An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Senior Technician within the Fashion & Textiles Institute responsible for delivering software instruction to undergraduate students and producing graphic print, film and web based content (including social media content) to support the business aims of the Institute. The courses within the Institute include; BA(Hons) Textile Design; BA(Hons) Fashion Design; BA(Hons) Sportswear Design; BA(Hons) Fashion Marketing and BA(Hons) Fashion Photography.

The award-winning courses within the Institute have developed a national and international reputation for creative excellence, with many of its' graduates employed in their own start-ups or at some of the leading fashion & textile companies in the world. Our reputation is built upon the excellence of our teaching, the commitment, talent and enthusiasm of our students and our considerable engagement with the creative industry. Our aim is to produce graduates who are creative thinkers who will challenge their practice, can deliver their ideas with excellent craft skills and have the communication skills to deliver their strategic thinking within a professional context.

Our team believes that students must have a developed understanding of the many professional aspects involved in the production of successful fashion based content. The successful candidate will have excellent abilities, based on a thorough and up to date knowledge of contemporary practices, to demonstrate the core specialist techniques and technologies inherent in the production of graphics for print, website development & construction and moving forms of fashion imagery.

The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering software tuition (predominantly relating to the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of programs), and have a background and experience in creative practice so that the tuition is tuned and relevant to the practice of our students. The role will require excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with academic colleagues to deliver relevant workshops that compliment and inform the academic curriculum.

We are looking for an individual who is ambitious, motivated and enthusiastic, with the ability to excite students through industry-linked initiatives, demonstrating a progressive and dynamic approach to technical instruction. Excellent organisational skills and a commitment to remaining up to date with developments within your specialism will be key attributes required in the role.

Health and safety is taken very seriously at Falmouth University. You will need a working knowledge and demonstrable industry experience of the health and safety issues involved with this role. Whilst you may not have a recognised H&S qualification at present you will be expected to study for one through the university's continuing Professional Development Program.
